The Judiciary and Arbitration Forum at 2025 North Bund Forum & the 7th China Maritime Justice and Arbitration Summit Forum Successfully Held in Shanghai

As a key event of the 2025 North Bund Forum co-hosted by the Ministry of Transport of the PRC and the Shanghai Municipal People’s Government, the Judiciary and Arbitration Forum at 2025 North Bund Forum & the 7th China Maritime Justice and Arbitration Summit Forum (Forum) were successfully held in Shanghai on October 21, 2025. Co-organized by CMAC Shanghai Headquarters and CMAC Zhejiang Pilot Free Trade Zone Arbitration Center, the Forum attracted over 150 representatives from judicial bodies, government departments, industry associations, the arbitration community, the business sector, the legal profession, and the academia, with livestreaming.

With the theme of Riding the Star Raft to Vast Seas, Forging a ‘New Chapter’ for the Shipping”, the Forum focused on the risks and countermeasures of enterprises going global, inviting Chinese and international experts to jointly explore solutions to meet these challenges. On the Forum, CMAC, in collaboration with the People's Insurance Company (Group) of China (PICC) and the Shanghai Institute of Marine Insurance (SIMI), released the Model Arbitration Clauses for Insurance Contracts with model arbitration clauses for both ad hoc arbitration and institutional arbitration. This initiative implements the directives of the 3rd Plenary Session of the 20th CPC Central Committee of the CPC on the innovation of maritime arbitration system, safeguarding the “going global of the insurance industry. Meanwhile, CMAC Shanghai Headquarters released the Case Collection Involving Enterprises Going Global, providing practical guidance on risk prevention and dispute resolution for shipping enterprises and strengthening arbitration-based legal services.

With rich and insightful discussions, it responded to the development needs of the industry., explored the successful experience of positive interaction between maritime judiciary and maritime arbitration, and provided an international and professional high-end exchange platform for enhancing the comprehensive capacity of Chinese shipping enterprises going global and supporting the construction of Shanghai as an international shipping center.
